W Academy is currently accepting resumes for multiple Resident Advisor (RAs) positions available for our 2016 summer camp.

RAs help create a community that encourages and supports intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a joy for learning. RAs must be committed to enhancing the overall experience of students attending the summer program, by helping facilitate a positive living and academic environment.

Job Duties:

RAs are responsible for students’ academic needs and safety to enhance their learning and residence experience in the U.S. Many duties include but not limited to:

  • Enforce classroom and dormitory rules and regulations to ensure a positive learning atmosphere and a safe resident environment.
  • Collaborate and Communicate with teachers and staff to secure the smooth and orderly operation of the summer program.
  • Work closely with students, tutoring subjects including Writing, Reading, Math, and SAT/SSAT, as well as assisting with students’ college/high school application.
  • Lead activities (sport, cookout, volunteering work, and etc.) and trips during the extracurricular and weekend portions of the program.
  • Act as mentors to provide students with information, direction, guidance, and support for them to better adapt to the academic and social life of America.
  • Observe students to detect and report unusual behaviors.

Wages:

  • $800 per week
  • Room and board
  • Room and board (RAs must pay for their own travel to and from summer camp location.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively in groups
  • Experience as a college RA or camp counselor
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • High level of responsibility and energy
  • Ability to enforce rules
  • College GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese is a plus

Living on campus for the duration of the summer program is required. Background check and a one-day training ahead of the start day of the program are mandatory.

Location:

Wagner College is located in the New York City borough of Staten Island, in a neighborhood of historic estates and mansions.

Duration:

July 8, 2016 to August 6, 2016 (4-week commitment)
